Wind: WSW 6-7
Visibility: Good
Sea state: Choppy
Time of launch: 1245hrs
Time of return: 1415hrs

Boats launched: ALB and ILB

Reason: Amble ALB and ILB were requested to launch after reports were received that a windsurfer was in difficulty in the Druridge Bay area.  Rescue Helicopter 131 from RAF Boulmer was also tasked to assist and was the first unit on scene.  R131 deployed its winchman and winched the winsurfer, who was suffering from cold and exhaustion, from the sea before landing on the beach to leave the casualty with awaiting Coastguard units.  Amble ILB was on scene shortly after and locted the windsurfers board and sail, taking them on board and landing them on the beach, also to the Coastgaurd units.  Amble ALB and ILB were then released to return to station.
