Wind: NW 3
Visibility: Good
Sea state: Smooth
Time of launch: 1645hrs
Time of return: 1710hrs

Boats launched: ALB and ILB

Reason: Both Lifeboats were launched after Humber Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public reporting a dinghy with 2 children on board being blown out to sea from the beach at Hauxley.  Arriving on scene first, the ILB arrived just as the children were being taken to shore by a small vessel that had also been in the area.  The ILB beached on the shore and the crew administered first aid to the children who were both suffering from the effects of the cold.  Local Coastguard units on scene requested an ambulance which took the childen to hospital to be checked over and to rule out the possibilty of hypothermia.

Wind: NW2-3
Visibility: Good
Sea state: Slight – Moderate
Time of launch: 2225hrs
Time of return: 0000hrs

Boats launched: ALB and ILB

Reason: Both lifeboats were launched after the sailing yacht “Blue Fin” reported having a fouled propeller 2.5 miles NE of Amble.  On scene first, the ILB crew were confident they could clear the rope from the propeller but the swell was preventing any attempt, therefore the ALB towed the yacht to a sheltered area 1/4 mile North of Amble.  Once in the shelter provided by the piers, the ILB crew were able to clear the rope from the propeller and, being left with total manouverability the yacht decided to anchor in the bay before continuing to travel South the next day.  Both lifeboats then returned to station.
