Reason: Amble ILB was launched after the 23ft yacht ‘Jester’ reported mechanical failure 1 mile East of Coquet Island. The ILB towed the casualty into Alnmouth Bay where they waited on the tide flowing enough to tow the yacht into the harbour. Once there was sufficient water the ILB towed the yacht to its mooring in the river before returning to station.

Wind: SSW 4

Visibility: Good

Sea state: Slight

Time of launch: 1800hrs

Time of return: 1950hrs

Boats launched: ALB and ILB

Reason: Humber Coastguard received a 999 call from a fisherman on the beach at Druridge Bay stating he could see what he thought was a person in the broken water. Both Lifeboats were tasked to the area along with Rescue Helicopter 131 from RAF Boulmer and the local Coastguard Rescue Team to conduct a search of the area. Using the infa-red cameras on the helicopter and the lifeboats night vision equipment and search lights, a thorough search of the area was conducted. The Coastguard Team found a Kite Surfers Kite on some rocks close to where the fisherman had first reported the sighting, and he confirmed it was the same colour as what he had seen in the broken water. With this information, and happy that the kite had been I the water for some time; all units were stood down and returned to station with the call being recorded as a false alarm with good intent.

Reason: Amble Lifeboat was launched after the 15m fishing vessel ‘Good Fellowship’ reported they had lost all steering capabilities 25 miles East South East of Amble. After reaching the casualty a tow was established and the tow commenced towards Seahouses. After nearly 2 hours of towing, Seahouses Lifeboat was launched and took over the tow of the fishing vessel back to Seahouses, allowing Amble Lifeboat to return to station.
