Reason: Amble Lifeboat was launched today to help escort some of the local fishing fleet safely back into the harbour in severe weather conditions.
At 1355hrs the crew were paged to help escort the local fishing vessel “AQUARIUS” safely back to Amble Harbour, across the treacherous bar. With winds gusting up to force 9, driving rain and huge breaking seas across the harbour entrance this was a difficult service.
After safely escorting the fishing vessel inside the harbour, after 30 mins, the Lifeboat returned to station where she was re-fuelled and made ready for service.
