Reason: Amble All-weather lifeboat The Four Boys was called out to the aid of a
private angling boat that had suffered engine problems approximately half a mile east
of Coquet Island.
The volunteer crewmembers were paged at 15.19 hrs to go to the assistance of a
local eight metre angling boat Wasp. The launch was requested when it became
known that the vessel had no propulsion and as a result, no viable method of
steering or controlling the vessel.
Another nearby boat, Morning Star remained with Wasp until the lifeboat was in sight.
Amble RNLI station launched the All-weather lifeboat The Four Boys and were
on scene with the casualty in approximately 10 minutes. Once the situation was
assessed, The Four Boys took Wasp and the four persons on board her under tow
and made best possible safe speed back into Amble Harbour where Wasp was tied
up and made safe.
The Four Boys then returned to station, refuelled and was made ready for service
